GREG KINDRED: MISSOURI

In college, I studied commercial art, including production art, layout, design and photography. And my first job was as a production artist. Looking for ways to be more creative, I chose an art director position with a veterinary media company for my next job.

It was a small group, which meant I touched everything from trade show graphics to magazine layouts. And every month, I hired a photographer to shoot our magazine covers I looked forward to being in the studio working side by side with the photographer. I went there with the basic idea, and then I watched as the photographer built the shot. He added lights, and we both looked at camera angles and polaroids. Lots of polaroids.

I was fascinated by the process, and I was learning every week I asked lots of questions and saw how the shot improved as we both added our ideas. These shoots were very collaborative; they were relaxed and fun. This experience turned out to be the perfect incubator for my budding desire to transition my career to photography.

Pretty soon, I had the opportunity to buy some studio strobes and I set up a basement studio of my own. I shot lots of things looking for my niche: weddings, senior portraits, eBay shots, product shots, and more and more photography for my day job. Eventually, I decided to transition to photography full-time. Now I specialize in table-top product photography, business headshots, and pet portraits — something I brought with me from years in the veterinary industry I look forward to collaborating with you to create attention-getting images that support your goals!
